Hi there!
For next school year, please go to my new website:
http://www.teacherweb.com/HI/MauiWaenaIntermediate/Gazmen
I’ll miss my short url address and cool-looking templates, but this one’s easier for me to manage and post grades – so check it out!
Aloha and have a great school year!
To my 7th graders who are moving on:
Thank you for a great year! I had lots of fun moments, especially the last field trip day playing dodge ball, getting beamed in the head – ouch, and tripping and almost pulling Vanessa down w/me (some shame!), ha ha.
Overall, you were a good group to work with and respectful toward me and your other team teachers. We recognize and appreciate that! Remember to review your notes in your journal before school starts up again for Ms. Korotsky’s pre-test. You didn’t think I’d let you forget everything I taught you, did you?
Incoming 7th graders next school year:
Thanks for visiting my blog! In the Archives link (on the sidebar), you can see some of the things we’ll be learning next year. You can also link to educational games if you’re bored or send a comment by replying on this blog. Don’t forget to READ & WRITE over the summer and be ready to hand in your plot summaries/responses when you come to class.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy your summer!
Hi all!
We are almost done with our oral presentations! Whew! Just a few more to go and hopefully we’ll be done by Wednesday.
What you’re doing well:
- Nice displays, Powerpoints, and booklets
- Followed the outline; organized
- Citing your sources
- Your peer evaluations are accurate and very helpful to the speaker!
What everyone could improve on:
- speak LOUDER – you can never really speak loud enough.
- PRACTICE more
- LOOK UP at the audience more and speak to us
- Put more expression; don’t sound like a robot!
Reminders: Thurs. is all periods, Field trip on Friday, Mon. half day then pau! Yay!
4 1/2 more days to go! Keep up the good behavior and attitude!
Hey there!
Only two more weeks to go!
This week: Continue oral presentations and finish next Mon./Tues.
What you’re doing well:
- Most of you created beautiful display boards and Powerpoint presentations!
- Everyone typed out their text to show their GLO#4: Quality Producer skills.
- I can tell some of you practiced – well organized! Wendy P. actually memorized her whole speech!
- The notecards really helped you stay organized.
Need to Work on:
- Speak LOUDER – some of you practically have to shout – I know you can!
- Speak clearly; don’t mumble – what you have to say is important!
- Work your visuals into your presentation
Keep practicing and you’ll get better! That goes for anything in life. :-)
Hi all!
First, I want to congratulate my advisory for winning their first fleetball match! Hopefully, we can at least score a point in the next one!
Projects: By now, almost all of you, that’s about 95% of you, are completely done writing your outlines! Finally! Yay! It’s amazing how much you can do when you put your mind to it (and avoid staying in for recess)! ha ha jk
Well, that was probably the hardest part. Now, you just have to type it all out, but you can use bullet form and phrases if it’s anything except the essay, booklet, or ABC book. All you have to do is type it according to each section in the outline. Remember, try and get a flashdrive in case you need to revise in school.
This week:
Mon/Tues.:
- I check to see that outlines are typed out. How many sections? What is the magic number? 6!
- I’ll give you some class time to put your projects together (posters, display boards)
- At least three visuals should be included (pics, graphs, maps, demos, song samples, video clips, etc.) It’s ok to burn things on CD’s or attach them as a file to my email account: cgazmen7@gmail.com, or save it on your flashdrive. As long as I can access it via computer, I can project it on the overhead.
- Review rubric and make sure you have everything listed.
Wed./Thurs./Fri.:
- Review Rubric on oral presentations
- Write notes on notecards according to the outline in bullet form
- Practice w/partner
- Practice for homework
- Be prepared to present the next day
We will probably start presenting on Friday, hopefully. Students using any type of media that require access to computers will have to go first before the computer cart is removed.
Do your best so you can feel proud of your accomplishment!
